British researchers have discovered another positive aspect of breastfeeding. It turned out that if an infant is fed breast milk for up to a year, and not with artificial mixtures, then its chances of a successful career are significantly increased. This is because breast milk positively affects the level of intellectual development of the baby.
Scientists conducted a comparative analysis of the lives of 16,700 people born in 1970 and 17,400 people born in 1958. Their social status was evaluated on a four-point scale (the lowest score is unskilled, the highest is professional / managerial). If we talk about children 10-11 years old, then we analyzed the statuses of their fathers.
In addition, researchers studied the diet in the first months of life, resistance to stressful situations and the intellectual abilities of respondents. The result was the following picture: in 1958, 68% of mothers were breastfeeding their babies, in 1970, the figure was almost halved - only 36% of mothers preferred breastfeeding. It turned out that children who received breast milk in the future were ahead of their peers in career growth. Scientists estimate that the likelihood of high social growth when breastfeeding is increased by as much as 24%. In turn, the risk of social failure is reduced by 20%.
What is the reason? Scientists say that breast-fed babies have made a successful career due to higher rates of intellectual development. And mental abilities, as it turned out, depend on the nutrients that breast milk is rich in. Direct contact between mother and baby is also very important here. Researchers have confirmed that an optimal result is obtained by combining these two factors.
According to scientists, breast milk improves the neurological development of babies, which increases their mental abilities and resistance to stress. The study also found the following fact: breast milk helps the development of key areas of the baby’s brain that are associated with cognitive abilities, emotions and speech.
