Often the owners of even a small apartment ask themselves questions about how to make the interior more diverse and comfortable, without resorting to repair and finishing work.

Many simply do not have the financial ability to refine their home.

In this case, it is not necessary to have money, it is enough to supplement the interior design with various decorative objects that you can do yourself.

Typically, as a wall decor, paintings are used in unusual frames, mirrors, complemented by painting, rhinestones, stucco molding.

To give a more aesthetic appearance to the floor covering, create handmade interior rugs. But what can be used to design or transform upholstered furniture, be it a bed, an old sofa or armchairs? Designers advise using decorative pillows, because this is a great way to decorate the interior and accents.

Of course, in many specialized stores you can buy pillows of various sizes and shapes. But why spend money on it when you can make decorative pillows with your own hands? You do not even need to buy beautiful materials and fillers for this. All you need to create such a masterpiece as a decorative pillow for a sofa or bed is to find the right materials. This can be any fabric obtained from old things or bedspreads, as well as improvised materials, sewing supplies and small details for decoration.

We suggest you familiarize yourself with two interesting ideas that you can use to create decorative pillows with your own hands. The first master class involves making an incredibly delicate pillow with a heart-shaped decor, the other - creating a pillow with a diamond-shaped pattern. To make such a unique decorative object from both the first and second master classes, you do not have to possess the skills of a seamstress, everything is extremely simple.

Do-it-yourself decorative pillow "Tender heart"

In this master class there are no restrictions on the choice of fabrics. You can select materials based on your personal preferences. You can sew decorative pillows with your own hands even from linen or cotton fabric, even materials such as felt and fleece can look very original if you turn on your imagination. Here the most important thing is that it is convenient to work with the material you have chosen, and the pillow itself will ultimately turn out spectacular.

So, for sewing the main cover, you can take any fabric (you can even cut from old clothes). You will need two identical pieces in the form of squares. Expand the two halves with their faces facing each other, align them at the edges. Then it remains only to stitch the edges on a sewing machine, leaving one side to fill the future pillow with cotton or foam rubber.

Since the main emphasis in this variation of the decorative pillow is the heart, you will need to pick up an even thinner and more delicate fabric, the edges of which do not unfold along the strings. Cut out circles of the same size from this fabric, from them you will form the elements for making up the heart. Fold the resulting circles from the fabric in the manner shown in the photo below, that is, wrap each circle with another, not forgetting to fold them.

As a result, you should get a kind of flowers, the base of which must be fixed with the help of threads and needles. From the received elements you need to form a contour in the form of a heart. To do this, take a previously sewn cover for the future pillow and on one side where decoration is supposed to be done, draw a outline of the heart with a chalk or pencil.

Next, ready-made flowers from a thin fabric, gradually apply along this contour and sew to the fabric of the cover. When the shape of the heart is ready, you can begin to fill the inside of the picture. To do this, you need to sew the rest of the flowers, but in such a way that, as a result, the heart looks "thick". Then, the resulting decor should be slightly patted with your hands to make the heart seem more fluffy.

The final step will be to fill the cover with cotton, sintepon or foam rubber, in general, with any material that you find at home. Also do not forget to sew a gap on one side of the cover with a blind seam. At this stage, your decorative pillow with your own hands will be ready, you can use it as you wish.

DIY decorative pillow with diamond pattern

This master class involves the creation of a decorative pillow with your own hands from a more dense material. In our case, we used thin felt, because its edges do not crumble when cut, which is very important. So, first you need to sew a cover for a future pillow. Take a cloth from felt, cut out two squares of the same size and another slightly larger size, it will serve as a consumable for decorative blanks.

From a piece of fabric that is slightly larger in size, cut out uniform and even strips of a width of no more than one centimeter. Then sew the ends of the strips to the front of one of the two squares, while stepping back a couple of centimeters from the edge. For this, it is most convenient to use a sewing machine. The photo below clearly shows how to do this.

Next, you should cross each two strips with each other, and then make lines at the intersection of parts. As a result, you will get a kind of pattern, somewhat reminiscent of a diamond-shaped lattice. It is also worth noting that at the edges, that is, left and right of the square, you need to leave an indent of about two centimeters. This is necessary so that when stitching the squares you can twist the edges for reliability.

When one side with the pattern is ready, you can start sewing the cover itself. To do this, attach both squares to each other with their outer sides, align them, then sew on the typewriter along the edges so that the line is right next to the base of the pattern. Do not forget to leave an access gap on one side of the cover when filling the pillow.

After that, turn the finished cover onto the front side, fill it with cotton or foam rubber. It remains only to close the gap of the cover with a blind seam. At this stage, your do-it-yourself pillow will be ready. What you should get as a result, look at the photo below. We hope that such cute pillows will make the interior of your home even more comfortable and will cheer you and your guests.
