Today in any store in the country you can buy absolutely everything that your heart desires.

But not a single item purchased stores the warmth of the hands of the master who made it.

And, of course, special heat is stored in a toy made by hand.

Today's master class is invited to create a magnificent and unique craft - an owl.

Making an owl with your own hands is very simple.

Such a toy can be sewn for a child and put in a crib, hang an ensemble of several owls to the ceiling above this crib, and sit in the kitchen as an interior decoration. You can make an owl with your own hands in any style: realistic, as in nature, fabulous, funny, knitted, wooden, fragrant with filler from herbs, cardboard, stone or even plastic bottles.

Textile owls (made of fabric)

The easiest way to make owls is from fabric. The fabric is publicly available, so making do-it-yourself owls will not be difficult. To complete this task, a pattern, fabric and simple sewing skills will be required. The fabric is selected dense on a cotton basis, not very stretching. It is recommended to use textiles with an interesting funny pattern, not just plain. Future advices are 40/40 cm in size. Additional supplies: a piece of felt and leather (black), synthetic winterizer, hidden zipper, fabric glue, pattern paper, pencil, scissors.

Manufacturing Technique:

• paper is placed on the table and the shape of the owlet is drawn in free form, as in the figure. The form is free and very simple;

• the finished pattern is cut out in shape and placed on the fabric, the first part is cut out. It is necessarily cut taking into account allowances (1 - 2 cm.). When the first part (front) is cut out, the second part (back) is hidden;

• Further, eyes and nose are cut from felt. They are sewn to the "front part" immediately. The sewing machine is configured for embroidery: the fabric feed through the upper conveyor is turned off, the sewing mode changes to embroidery. A zigzag stitch is used;

• eyelashes are gently cut and glued by hand. They are made of black leather;

• both parts - the front and backs are sewn together from the bottom through a hidden zipper. The back position of the fabric is taken into account. First, the lower edges are bent 1 cm. And are processed overlock stitching. Then one side of the zipper is sewn, and after the other;

• both parts are sewn along the edge from the wrong side into one part. DIY made owl can now be turned out on the front side;

• paws are made. They are drawn in free form on paper, and then they are cut onto fabric with allowance for allowances (0.5-1 cm).

The paws are sewn with a simple seam from the wrong side. At this stage, you can glue non-woven if you want to give rigidity, and if the legs will not be filled in the future synthetic winterizer. The lower edge of the parts is left unstitched for subsequent turning on the front side. After that, the details can be turned out and sewn to the body of an owl, as shown in the figure. If desired, they are filled with padding polyester, which gives additional volume. Then the legs are turned down and the seam is laid again;

• exactly according to the above scheme, the second owlet is made, but with eyes wide open. Breast is made of felt. A bow made of leather is sewn;

• both owls are filled with padding polyester. All DIY handmade owls are ready!

Cardboard Owls

A unique toy can be made from corrugated cardboard. You can also decorate your home interior with it. It will turn out very stylish!

Manufacturing Technique:

• plain corrugated cardboard is used, from which simple boxes are made. A sheet of cardboard is taken and the upper smooth layer is removed ("peeled off");

• strips are cut out (across the corrugated lines) for the body and, in the process of twisting, the layers are smeared with glue;

• to make an owl with your own hands, two large eyes are made in the same way. Buttons are inserted into the pupils onto the glue;

• on a flat cardboard with a pencil, a shape is drawn for the wings, for the tail and wide eyebrows. Then the resulting "patterns" are cut out and glued to the owl figurine one by one;

• a beak is made from any wooden stick, or any stick that resembles a bird's beak is simply picked up. The beak is inserted into the appropriate place and glued;

• the second figure of an owl is made in a pair;

• now it’s the turn of homemade swing. To assemble them, you will need a simple steel wire and a thick jute thread. The thread wraps around the wire in several layers. Then it can be bent in the shape of a swing for owls;

• Finally, owl figures can be hoisted at their permanent place of residence.

Origami Owls

You can make an owl with your own hands from ordinary office paper. It is better if it is colored.

To make such a composition is also simple. If you look closely, it is multi-level. The main thing is to choose the right color scheme. First of all, the shape of the tree is cut. A simple round crown of a tree is glued to it behind it. Cut out of paper owl. As an eye you can use anything you want: buttons, strasses, felt. The resulting birds stick to the overall composition. Next, you can cut flowers, leaves, a raven and a birdhouse with an owlet inside. The resulting origami must be put on the base with glue to give a vertical position. You can also stick it on a card and make it a gift. It will be a great gift - handmade owls!

Examples of various techniques

• amazing owls made using the technique of overlaying a picture on an ordinary river stone. A simple “paint on fabric” is used. The drawing is applied with an art brush. Drawing skills are required, as the drawing is done quickly due to the quick-drying properties of the paint, which, moreover, is not yet washed off.

• owl knitted. The technique is complicated. Knitting skills and a detailed nodular pattern are required.
